About

Nicola Hensel is an artist whose work tracks, traces and uncovers the sublime and beautiful detail of the world we share, both natural and domestic. Firmly rooted in drawing and the act of placing marks on paper, her work is an invitation into a very present and calm eye, that sees the world with care, time and space.

Nicola’s art practice is linked to her living space which is an extension of her practice. Based in Newcastle, Australia her house has been featured in magazines and in popular blogs. She trained in art in Newcastle and has been exhibiting and working professionally in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne since 2003.

She is the mother of six and partner of Australian Sculptor John Turier, who she frequently collaborates with. She is the owner of two very silly dogs and picks up every piece of rubbish she sees.
